Approach

I believe in your internal wisdom and that each of us naturally leans towards healing, much like a plant naturally leans towards light. I will hold the space and offer tools towards that unfolding. I will meet you with warmth and compassion, while also gently challenging you to examine how patterns of belief and behavior may be impeding your movement towards personal and relational health. I work from a trauma-informed framework and am trained in EMDR, a trauma-processing modality (more here). I integrate psychodynamic, existential, somatic, and mindfulness-based approaches and draw from practices grounded in neurobiology and nervous system regulation.

I use a holistic approach to therapy. In other words, I believe that the greatest potential for transformation lies in exploring and healing all layers of the self – the thinking self, the somatic self, the emotional self, the energetic self, and the spiritual self. Individuals may sometimes feel like their progress becomes “stuck” in traditional talk therapy – they have become good at intellectualizing their problems and noticing patterns without feeling any real movement beyond them. I believe that our problems may manifest in our thoughts and behaviors, but the roots run deeper. I help clients create lasting change by working at the root.

My counseling style is collaborative and empowering, with a focus on cultivating a therapeutic environment that invites authenticity, embodiment, trust, insight, creativity, and humor. I believe that, with compassion and curiosity, tending to the full experience of the present moment can be truly transformational. It is in this light of presence and awareness that the path to self-actualization, healing, and inner peace is illuminated.

I am body-positive, feminist, and committed to the ethics of cultural humility. I recognize the role that our communities and intersecting identities play in how each of us navigates our lives and use that lens within my work. I welcome clients from all gender, sexual, racial, religious, and cultural identities and am committed to the self-education, advocacy, and introspection needed to maintain an inclusive and identity-affirming therapeutic space.
